CES 2020: Samsung announces the “Age of Experience”

Have you ever thought of a little robot that, besides cleaning the house, keeping company, still helps to take care of your health? And a mirror capable of measuring the pH of your skin and, synchronized with Alexa, predicts the temperature, the quality of the air and tells you which best sunscreen to go out on the streets? And a diaper with a sensor, which tells parents if the baby is awake, dry and collects data to anticipate possible habits?

Health Tech is already a reality for several companies that presented differentiated solutions at CES 2020, the largest technology fair in the world, which took place last week in Las Vegas, in the United States.

Samsung, for example, announced the “Age of Experience”, which will be a decade of human-centered innovation, combining hardware and software perfectly to create personalized experiences that make life more practical, more enjoyable and more meaningful.

The company showed its latest advances in robotics, Artificial Intelligence, 5G, cutting-edge computing and highlights robots as “life partners”, humanized and ready to understand us. During the exhibition, they presented Ballie, a small rolling robot that “understands you”, supports and reacts to your needs to actively help at home, in addition to being a fitness assistant and a mobile interface that seeks solutions to the needs of the people’s daily lives.

Procter & Gamble launched Charmin’s RollBot, a conceptual robot that permanently supplies toilet paper in bathrooms, in addition to an electric toothbrush that, using artificial intelligence and machine learning, gives tips for better brushing. SmellSense, also launched at the event, is an electronic monitoring sensor, calibrated to detect carbon dioxide or hydrogen sulfide that leaves an unpleasant filling for humans, and when it is recommended or not to enter the bathroom.

The new pillar for Tech for Good is very cool – solutions for a more ecologically, humanly, ethically correct world. A movement of this nature already exists in Brazil, led by one of the main marketing and technology executives, Carmela Borst, former head at Oracle.

At CES, some of the technologies that will change lives and improve our world were shown, from smart wearables, digital therapy and remote patient monitoring. In Brazil, Tech For Good also makes CMOs come together more and more to create solutions outside the box and offices, in addition to companies, until reaching the final consumer.

Another great highlight in retail is the smart mirror, which using artificial intelligence, virtual reality, big data, machine learning, is able to “remember” the clothes that the person has in the closet, combine accessories available on the pre-resolved sites and suggest the “look of the day”. An analysis of the person’s skin in real time and even suggest the best treatments for each user. It is already being tested in some concept stores in Europe and the United States.

Delta Airlines had great prominence showing solutions being implemented or conceptual, ranging from robotics that “dress” employees with bionic skeletons and unite man and machine to solve situations with luggage and aircraft. The connectivity provided during the flight turns the cabin into a chat that works as a social network and restaurant. We will be able to chat with people or order food and drinks during the flight by cell phone. The idea is to take the company team from behind the counter to enhance the consumer experience.

The area of automobiles, still largely conceptual, has doubled in size every year, with the traditional Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Jeep and novelties such as Byton or luxury as McLaren.

Not for nothing, CES 2020 recorded an increase of almost 25% in exhibitors in the Health and Wellness category, and of course, this is directly linked to growth and the search for solutions to facilitate the daily lives of consumers worldwide.

The great star that connects all technologies is 5G and its connectivity that will empower all IOT gadgets, creating smart homes, smart cities, having hubs in refrigerators like Samsung, on Amazon Alexa, Google Home or the 20 thousand products launched this week by 4400 companies that exposed 170 thousand visitors.
